Hello
I’m Jessica! I enjoy working with adults navigating neurodivergence, trauma, identity, and relationship patterns. My approach is warm, collaborative, and relational, with a focus on helping you better understand yourself, your needs, and the patterns shaping your life.
Jessica's Story
Jessica Gruenstein, PhD is a Postdoctoral Psychological Resident supervised by Dr. Rebecca Crossley who works with adults seeking a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that shape their lives. She has a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent clients, including individuals with ADHD, Autism, and AuDHD, as well as people navigating trauma, PTSD, identity concerns, and experiences of feeling misunderstood or out of place.
Jessica’s approach is relational, collaborative, client-led, and informed by attachment, nervous-system regulation, and trauma-informed care. She believes the relationship between therapist and client is an essential part of meaningful therapy. Her goal is to create a warm, non-demanding space where clients can explore difficult experiences at their own pace while also developing a clearer understanding of how their emotions, relationships, and coping patterns have developed over time.
In therapy, Jessica may help clients explore recurring relationship dynamics, conflict, past social experiences, emotional regulation, and the ways neurodivergence can shape daily life and relationships. She also incorporates psychoeducation about trauma, attachment, neurodivergence, somatic experiences, and social-emotional development when it is helpful.
Jessica is gentle but direct and values therapy that feels human rather than overly clinical. She enjoys bringing warmth, curiosity, and humor into the therapeutic process while helping clients translate insight into practical changes in their everyday lives. Her work is not centered on changing or “fixing” who someone is, but on helping clients understand themselves more fully, identify what they need, and build a life that fits them.
As an Autistic clinician, Jessica also brings lived experience to her work with neurodivergent clients and understands how powerful it can be to finally have a framework for experiences that may have felt confusing or misunderstood for years. She is especially passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals, LGBTQ+ clients, and creative people who may have spent much of their lives feeling as though they did not quite fit.
Jessica earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University and completed her doctoral internship at Portland Mental Health and Wellness. Prior to becoming a psychologist, she also worked as a preschool teacher, contributing to her longstanding interest in development, relationships, and the ways early experiences shape how we understand ourselves and others.
Outside of her clinical work, Jessica is a multidisciplinary artist who enjoys painting, photography, creative writing, and singing. She also loves spending time with her dog, Mango.
