Meet Bryan Nelson, PsyD
Licensed Psychologist in Oregon

Dr. Nelson's Story

Dr. Nelson works with adults age 25 and older. His primary areas of focus include PTSD and trauma-related concerns, anxiety, depression, workplace stress, general stress-related issues, relationship and interpersonal concerns, and identity exploration.

His therapy style is interpersonal, insightful, and engaging. He draws from psychodynamic therapy, EMDR, relational approaches, trauma-informed care, CBT, and mindfulness.

Clients can expect a compassionate and comfortable environment where they are encouraged to express themselves openly and explore both present concerns and deeper patterns. Bryan aims to help clients gain greater insight into their relationships with others, their relationship with themselves, and their sense of identity. He also focuses on improving emotional awareness, recognizing stress patterns, developing more effective coping behaviors, building a more accurate and stable sense of self-esteem, and becoming more comfortable with internal conflicts, needs, and motivations.

Bryan is especially passionate about helping people understand the deeper motivations and relational patterns that shape their lives. He finds it rewarding to support clients in developing a stronger sense of self-understanding that can lead to meaningful growth, more authentic connection, and lasting change.

A quote he frequently uses in his work is Carl Rogers’ idea: “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

Bryan earned his doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in San Francisco in 2015. He has more than a decade of experience working with both chronic and acute trauma and PTSD, as well as experience supervising clinicians.

Outside of work, Bryan enjoys spending time with family, hiking, reading, listening to music, and trying to stay active.
